Rally Hebrides 2012

Rally Hebrides…………….

The Best One Yet! OH YEAH

Rally Hebrides 2012 has been described by drivers and spectators as the best one yet, despite the weather threatening to spoil the day soon after the event started.

27 Rally cars took part coming from all over Scotland to raise funds for Macmillan Cancer Support.  Many of the spectators turned out especially to see the current Scottish and British rally Champion David Bogie, running in a Ford Escort Mark2 for the first time and he took to it like a duck to water, which for the Castle Grounds Stages was very apt!  The Rally ran like clockwork with only a couple of short delays due to cars going off during the Melbost Farm Stages.  As always the Karting Track Super Special Stage proved very popular with the spectators and there was a large turnout to watch the drivers skilfully negotiate the twisty track and do a bit of showboating too!

Lewis Car Club was able to announce at the Driver’s Dinner later in the evening that the total of monies received and pledged exceeded £20,000.  This amount surpasses the amount raised at all the previous Rallies and all the proceeds will be donated to the Macmillan Committee for the Western Isles.  Lewis Car Club would therefore like to sincerely thank everyone who contributed in to make this day possible and so successful.

Lewis Car Club is a Company Limited by Guarantee and Registered Scottish Charity. The Club is affiliated to the RAC’s Motor Sports Association and remains committed to the development of motorsport in the Hebrides and to the advancement of driving standards.
